For the gathering of two families before the wedding day. By tradition, by feast, by joy.
To our family — and the family soon to be ours —
This is the day we have prepared for. The day the food is plenty, the laughter is loud, and the gifts are given with both hands. Come hungry, come ready to dance, come with your mother and your aunts.
We are giving our daughter away well. We are receiving our new son with joy.
Three sets of gifts will be exchanged on the day.
Gifts for the senior women of both families — blankets, scarves, and the traditional clothing they will wear into our family from this day forward.
Gifts for the bride's siblings and cousins — bringing joy to the home that raised her, recognizing what she leaves behind.
The presentation of the final cattle — a closing acknowledgment between the two families that the negotiation is complete and the union honored.
Traditional attire is welcomed and encouraged. The bride's family will wear cream and red. The groom's family will wear cream and ochre. Guests are free.
